The creative industry has arguably felt one of the biggest economical hardships than other industries. The industry will take years to bounce back. But what exactly will it take for it to recover?

Since COVID-19 started to create a stir in the world, the creative industry was one of the first industries to help curb the impacts on daily life by pulling the plug on thousands of events across the UK. The industry ground to a halt and has not managed to move since.
The industry collapsing has forced professionals into hardship without support. After a campaign to get noticed, professionals became outraged at the retaliation from the governments urge to ‘Retrain’. The industry has lacked support for far too long, so it time we look to see how we can survive until we are able to try and rebuild the crushed industry.
What can you do to help? There are 5 simple things you can do to support our industry and the professionals that have served it for many years.
Share the message
The people of the UK need to be aware of the impact COVID has had on such a large industry that impacts every day life. Share the message and join the fight in spreading awareness. Many campaigns are going ahead with many organisations such as the #WEMAKEEVENTS campaign.
Support your local scene
Are you supporting your local music scene? No, are you REALLY supporting the local scene? Listen to the music from these artists, buy merchandise, share them to be discovered by a wider audience. Supporting your local music has a bigger impact than you understand. The more you support your local artists, the more they can support the local venues, creatives, studios and many more. If you help with the rise of an artist, they will increase the worth of those around.
Write to your local MP
Contacting your local MP can be a great way to raise awareness. Although if they receive a handful of letters, they won’t listen. Make sure you show your support to the ones who’s job it is to support your area and the UK as a whole. These are the people that can make the biggest difference, so lets fight for them to be on our side!
Invest
You need to invest into the industry. The minuet the industry is allowed to come back, you should be there to support it. The only way the industry can bounce back is if you support the industry to show there is a want and need. If there is nothing to return to, we could see the end of music itself.

Check in on the creatives
Many creatives are struggling. This time has seen the industry that they may have only ever worked in collapse around them, destroying a career that has taken years to forge. This will take a big toll on their mental health. Make sure you check up on your friends and colleagues. Are they doing ok? Maybe they need someone to talk to? or maybe even some advice? Be there for them. The only way through this is together!
Beat COVID
No matter what we do or say, it looks like biggest solution to rebuilding this industry is to beat COVID. As a professional I urge you to take note of the governments guidance. The quick we squash this rodent, the quicker we build the mighty creative industry back to its former glory.
Could these times have proven to the public just how important the creative industry is to their lives? Could the industry even recover? If so, what does that look like? Is it possible that the industry could bounce back bigger and better than ever? Only time will tell!
